Gabon’s Path to Reforestation
In Gabon, the annual consumption of 4.1 million cubic meters (as per E&Y 2022 reports) of timber is contributing to the swift depletion of natural forests due to rapid industrialization. Our initiative is designed to counteract this trend by introducing sustainable alternatives, promoting socio-economic growth, and nurturing a greener environment.
Tree Species Planned
Eucalyptus, Okoume, Azobe, and Acacia.
Innovative Alternatives & Industry Evolution
Implementing sustainable practices in timber, bio-charcoal, and carbon sequestration.
Environmental & Social Impact
Sequoia’s project in Gabon champions sustainability by conserving biodiversity, sequestering carbon, and reducing pressure on natural forests. The initiative empowers communities through employment, agricultural training, and community development, creating a resilient and thriving society.
Timber Substitution
Substituting 3 million cubic meters of Okoume with renewable Eucalyptus timber every seven years.
Bio-Charcoal Production
Replacing 120,000 tonnes of fossil fuel annually with eco-friendly bio-charcoal.
Carbon Sequestration
Sequestering 1.8 million tCO2e annually through carbon sinks
Employment Generation
Creating 1000 direct and indirect job opportunities.
Agricultural Training
Providing training in Maize, Soya, Casava, and vegetable farming to enhance local food security.
Sustainable Environment
Contributing to biodiversity conservation, carbon sequestration, and alleviating pressure on natural forests.
Community Development
Catalyzing regional development through industrialization and project execution, fostering prosperity in rural communities.
