The success of GZES in Gabon under Arise IIP inspired the concept of substituting natural fiber supply with renewable biomass from sustainable forestry plantations to promote industrialization in 2021.
The initiative also aimed to establish special economic zones and make the entire group carbon neutral
The journey of Sequoia Plantation commenced with the goal of identifying businesses that could reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions or sequester carbon, with a particular focus on fast-growing exotic plantations to contribute to global climate change mitigation.
Sequoia Plantation (SP) introduced three nature-based solutions, namely Improved Cookstoves (ICS), Afforestation, and Conservation, all customized to align with the specific requirements of the African continent.
